Springfield Armory Unveils the Coyote Brown 1911 DS Prodigy Comp AOS 9mm: A Game-Changer for Firearm Enthusiasts
Springfield Armory recently launched the 1911 DS Prodigy Comp AOS 9mm in a stunning Coyote Brown Cerakote finish. Available in 5” and 4.25” variants, these pistols feature integral compensation to minimize recoil and muzzle rise. Consequently, they blend timeless 1911 charm with modern high-capacity performance.
The Coyote Brown Cerakote coating sets a new standard for firearm durability. This advanced finish eliminates the need for exterior oiling, offering superior corrosion protection. Additionally, it enhances longevity and simplifies maintenance, making it a top choice for gun owners. The slide and frame sport this sleek finish, paired with a matching Coyote Brown polymer grip and a black DLC-coated bull barrel.
A discreet single-port compensator graces the hammer-forged slide and barrel. By redirecting gas upward, it reduces muzzle flip and boosts control for quicker, more precise follow-up shots. Moreover, a tritium front sight sits just behind the compensator, ensuring excellent visibility.
The Coyote Brown Prodigy Comp elevates the 1911 platform with double-stack magazine capacity. Its polymer grip module mounts to a forged steel frame, delivering 17+1 or 20+1 rounds. For restricted areas, 10-round options are available, catering to all shooters.
Designed for modern optics, the Prodigy Comp features AOS (Agency Optic System) slide cuts. These billet steel plates provide optimal optic height for fast target acquisition. Each pistol ships with a HEX Dragonfly-compatible plate and a cover plate. Additional optic-specific plates are also available for customization.
Steve Kramer, Springfield Armory’s VP of Marketing, praised the design. “The 1911 DS Prodigy merges classic appeal with enhanced capacity and modern features,” he said. “These Coyote Brown models reduce muzzle flip, enabling faster shots in a trending color.”
Each pistol includes a 17-round flush-fit magazine and a 20-round extended one. Optional 26-round magazines are available for purchase. Both variants carry an MSRP of $1,649, with 10-round models matching the price.
Whether you choose the 5” or 4.25” model, performance is unmatched. For more details, visit Springfield Armory’s website.
