Benelli Introduces the Super Black Eagle 3

ACCOKEEK, Md. – The waterfowl world was once dominated by pump-action shotguns chambered for 3-inch shells. Semi-automatic shotguns, some insisted, couldn’t handle the rigorous and inhospitable conditions encountered by hardcore duck and goose hunters. But Benelli innovation, in the form of an inertia-driven, 3 1/2-inch semi-auto shotgun called the Super Black Eagle, changed all that.

Twenty-six years later, as the shotgun world struggles to keep pace with Benelli’s innovations and design mastery, the third incarnation of the company’s highly acclaimed waterfowl shotgun takes ergonomics, function and style to unprecedented levels in the form of the new Super Black Eagle 3.

Long synonymous with hardcore waterfowl hunting from the flooded timber of the Mississippi Flyway to the frozen coasts of the Bering Sea and points worldwide, the fabled Super Black Eagle has been given significant enhancements to its look, feel and performance all the while retaining the uniquely Benelli elements that brought the model such widespread acclaim over the last three decades.

The new Benelli Super Black Eagle 3 boasts dozens of new features and enhancements that improve the way the shotgun looks, feels and performs. At the heart of the new SBE3 is the inertia-driven action, which is centered around an Easy Locking System – an enhanced breech-closing system that eliminates the possibility for a shooter-induced stoppage when trying to softly close the bolt or when the shotgun is treated roughly in the blind. And because hardcore waterfowl hunters don’t stay out of the field in frigid weather, the new SBE3 is designed for easier operation with gloved and/or cold hands. The oversized bolt handle, oversized bolt release, oversized safety and redesigned magazine cap along with the enlarged load port make for easier operation in cold conditions.

The Easy Fitting System of the SBE3 includes a shim kit that allows for up to eight different cast and drop configurations. New stock and fore end design and rounded trigger give the SBE3 a smoother feel and make the shotgun easier to shoulder and swing on passing targets.

Completely redesigned from butt pad to muzzle for easier operation, the design of the new Super Black Eagle 3 reduces felt recoil with its third generation Comfort Tech stock and Combtech cheek pad. More enjoyable to shoot with even the heaviest waterfowl loads, the SBE3’s inertia-driven action is easier to clean and requires less maintenance than the action of a conventional, gas-operated semi-auto.

Available in black synthetic, Realtree Max-5, GORE OPTIFADE Timber and Mossy Oak Bottomlands camo, the new Benelli Super Black Eagle 3 is also available with either a 26- or 28-inch Crio-treated barrel.
